The Bills spent their first pick on quarterback E.J. Manuel. I don’t think he’ll make any impact this season. He’ll battle with Kolb for the starting position. But I think Manuel will sit and learn until Kolb eventually gets injured. Manuel will be a turnover machine and could hurt the value of guys like Stevie Johnson and second round pick Robert Woods.
Two Third round picks were spent on linebacker Kiko Alonso and Senior Bowl star receiver Maquis Goodwin. Goodwin is a small player who will make an immediate impact in the return game. He could end up with a few big splash plays but most likely wont have any fantasy value.
The Bills defense is one to keep an eye on. They’ve added nice pieces over the past few seasons. They could be a last round or free agent steal this season.
Dion Jordan was selected second overall. He’s an underachieving athletic pass rusher. The Dolphins have a good history of turning out stars in that category.
The majority of the Miami draft was spent on defense. Cornerback Jamar Taylor went in round two. He has potential to start early.
The only notable pick with fantasy value could be Mike Gillislee. I wouldn’t draft him, but someone to keep in mind if the injury bug hits. He will have more value in PPR leagues.
New England Patriots
The Patriots first picks didn’t come until round two. Jamie Collins could help in the sack category for the Patriots defense. The second pick in round two was Receiver Aaron Dobson. Dobson has nice size and speed. He looks like he could make an impact this coming season. Someone to look out for late summer when drafting. Round eight could be a good drafting spot for Dobson in Fantasy drafts.
The defense was addressed with two defensive backs in the third.
In round four Josh Boyce was selected. I’d take a chance on Boyce late in drafts. With the injury history of Tom Brady’s Targets, Boyce could really help at some point. He’s a good route runner with nice speed.
After the fourth The Patriots drafted two defensive players who will add depth.
New York Jets
Fantasy wise the Jets added some players on the defense. Clearly the Jets defense isn’t what it once was. It could still be a ownable option. Although there are many who look better on paper.
The Jets grabbed Geno Smith who fell to the second round. We could see him this season at some point. Sanchez will get his shot first. I’d stay away from Smith for now. A questionable offensive line, lack of offensive weapons and being a rookie puts him in the negative.
After round two the Jets spent multiple picks on the offensive line. A big need for them.
The two players who stick out to me are Dobson and Boyce from New England. Both should be drafted. Other than that There aren’t many players who should be looked at on your draft day. Manuel needs time, Smith may not even play.
