The Top Five

Patrick Mahomes comes into his 3rd year with the same loaded offense he ended 2018.  Mahomes will continue to spread the ball out to the open reciever whether it be Hill, Kelce or a no name fullback.   There’s no reason he can’t eclipse 50 touchdowns and 5,000 yards this season.  In leagues that quarterbacks get 6 points per passing TD.  Consider him in the first round.  In 4 point leagues, i’d start thinking about him in the mid second and beyond.  He just scores too many points to pass on.

DeShaun Watson is lucky enough to have one of the top recievers in the game in DeAndre Hopkins.  When Will Fuller is healthy, he’s capable of huge plays.  Coutee should take a step forward in his second season.  The passing attack will be strong at full go.  The Texans runningbacks are lackluster but Watson eats up a good chunk of the rushing stats and scoring.  I expect Watson to throw 25-28 TD passes and run for another hand full.  His passing yardage will be solid and his 500-600 rushing yards will help boost his points every week.  One alarming stat is his league leading 62 sacks in 2018.  He has to have better protection to last a full season.

Baker Mayfield threw 27 touchdowns in 14 games last season.  Adding Odell Beckham Jr in his second season should boost him in the mid to high 30 touchdown range.  Duke Johnson is an exccelent pass catching weapon out of the backfield and Jarvis Landry is as sure-handed as it gets.  If Njoku can improve his hands and Chubb stays healthy this offense will be very potent.  Adding Kareem Hunt in week 10 gives the Browns great depth at runningback.  I wouldn’t be shocked if Mayfield threw 40 TD’s this year.

Drew Brees Comes into 2019 with a new weapon at tight end. Something that’s been lacking in the New Orleans offense.  Jared Cook caught 68 balls in Oakland for 896 yards and 6 scores.  We all saw what happened when Amari Cooper left the Raiders.  Cook could be next in-line to help boost an offense.  A Saints offense that already has top playmakers in Thomas and Kamara.  Drew Brees should throw for over 30 touchdowns and should hit around the 4,500 yard mark.

Matt Ryan may have the best reciever combo in the game.  Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley combined for 177 receptions, 2,498 yards and 18 touchdowns.  Matt Ryan and Atlanta’s offense seems to fit well in Dirk Koetter’s scheme.  They drafted offensive lineman to boost a bad unit from a season ago.  If Devonta Freeman can stay healthy and Austin Hooper can take a step forward, Ryan’s stats will be near the top of the league again.

Keep an eye on

Dak Prescott got a huge weapon when Amari Cooper was traded to Dallas.  Michael Gallup showed flashes of what could be as a rookie.  his reception total (33) should rise and adding Cobb should make for a solid receiving core.  The major question for Dak is Zeke Elliott’s hold out.  Prescott 6 rushing TD’s could go up.  But the passing game could be hindered without Zeke.  I’d move him up a few spots if the Elliott contract is situated.

Ben Roethlisberger lost Antonio Brown this offseason.  He accounted for 104 recptions and 15 TD’s.  We will see this year if Smith-Schuster can replace those numbers.  But who will be the next reciever up after that? They done a good job of drafting the next guy over the years.  Donte Moncrief is average and James Washington didn’t do much to get people’s hopes up as a rookie.  Eli Rogers is coming off an injury.  James Connor is a bright spot for the offense and Vance McDonald can catch 50 plus balls if he can stay healthy.  If Moncrief, Rogers and Washington don’t step up.  Watch out for rookie Diontae Johnson.  If all goes right, Roethlisberger is usually a quality QB to roster.

Aaron Rodgers can still produce points.  Last season was a transition year for the team.  A New coach and young players who were able to get their feet wet last season should make for Rodgers to bounce back a bit.  Watch for chemistry to build between Rodgers and Marquez Valdes-Scantling.  MVS caught 38 balls for 581 yards and 2 scores.  All his numbers will grow.  He couldbe a great red zone target at 6’4”.  Geronimo Allison’s needs to take a step forward for this offense to be better also.  If the runningback can be solid and his weapons outside of Adams workout, Rodgers could score top five at the position.
