There’s already been a couple trades involving this year’s first round. San Francisco dealt defensive end Deforest Buckner to Indianapolis for their thirteenth overall pick. Buffalo gave up the twenty second overall selection to Minnesota for receiver Stefon Diggs. The Dolphins have three first round picks. I wouldn’t be shocked to see Miami take the best player available with the 4th pick and then trade up in the first round to take a quarterback.
Cincinnati Joe Burrow QB LSU
Bengals hope to set the franchise up at the quarterback position for the foreseeable future. His deep ball needs to develop more but the rest of his game is good.
Washington Chase Young DE OSU
Big, strong and fast. He will be in the conversation for defensive rookie of the year and will help change games. Great against the pass and rush and will only get better.
Detroit Jeff Okudah CB OSU
Detroit was a mess against the pass last season. Okudah is a day one starter who could develop into one of the top corners in the league.
New York Giants OT Tristan Wirfs Iowa
The Left Tackle position needs an upgrade and Nate Solder isn’t getting any younger. After spending top picks on Barkley and Jones I think the Giants elect to help out their weapons. Isaiah Simmons going to be tough to pass on and could be the pick here also.
Miami LB Isaiah Simmons Clemson
Quarterback has been talked about here. But with three picks in the first round Miami can play it smart and go with the best player available. They can trade up and grab a QB if they need to and still land a great player. Simmons is a very fast athletic outside linebacker who can chase down quarterbacks and drop back into coverage. He can be used in several different positions including safety.
LA Chargers QB Justin Herbert Oregon
The Chargers could go with Tua here if they think he’ll be able to hold up physically. The glaring hole at quarterback needs to be addressed. Herbert will have great weapons but the offensive line needs serious upgrades and they’ll need to spend more picks on keeping him upright. Herbert has great size and athleticism. Had some of best games at the end including a Rose bowl and Senior bowl MVP. He’ll move the offense with his legs. Chargers will have to give him time to throw if they ever want Herbert to be able to read and react to coverage. He’s got a big arm and has a chance to make an impact early.
Carolina DT Derrick Brown Auburn
Carolina addressed the Quarterback position by signing Teddy Brigewater. Brown is a massive defensive tackle who disrupts the line of scrimmage because of his size and speed. When he refines his pass rushing technique he’s going to be a known commodity.
Arizona WR Ceedee Lamb Oklahoma
After taking Kyler Murray first overall in 2019, I can see the Cardinals taking his former teammate. Depending on who they value higher they could either go with Lamb or Jerry Juedy. Even after trading for Deandre Hopkins, Arizona should surround Murray with weapons. Larry Fitzgerald’s career is closing out and Lamb can step right in and they wont miss a beat.
Jacksonville WR Jerry Jeudy Alabama
Jacksonville could use an offensive tackle. But with two picks in the first round they can address that later. The Jacksonville offense would benefit greatly by drafting a talent like Jeudy. Jacksonville could also grab a quarterback if there’s one on the board they value this high.
Cleveland OT Andrew Thomas Georgia
The Cleveland Brown offensive line was a disaster in 2019. Andrew Thomas will step in as a good run blocker and progress as a pass protector.
New York Jets OT Jerrick Wills Alabama
The Jets need to sure up the offensive line. Wills could end up being the best overall tackle in this draft. He’s good in the run blocking and pass protecting department and helps the Jets offense day one. If a receiver like Lamb or Jeudy are here, they could also go that way. But with such a deep receiving draft, Offensive line should be the top priority.
Las Vegas OT Mechi Becton Louisville
Mike Mayock loves a good “Dancing Bear”. Becton is a monster at 6’7” 364 lbs. Becton relies too much on his size. His technical blocking needs a lot of work. Trent Brown missed a lot of games last year. Becton gives them depth and he can work on his game without having to anchor a line right out of the gate. The Raiders can cut Trent Brown for nothing after next season. Saving them a ton of money in 2021.
San Francisco WR Henry Ruggs Alabama
Adding another young receiver like Ruggs is huge for a roster ready to make another run at the Super Bowl. Fills a huge need after the 49ers Lost Emmanuel Sanders in free agency. Ruggs is a burner, running a 4.27 40 yard dash at the combine.
Tampa Bay CB CJ Henderon Florida
The Buccaneers were a top run defense in 2019. Near the bottom against the pass. CJ Henderson gives them an upgrade immediately in a division that has plenty of talent to deal with in the passing game.
Denver DT Javon Kinlaw South Carolina
A huge disruptive body who needs to learn more technique to succeed. He can dominate one on one blocking. Double teams slow him down and he seems to guess at times.
Atlanta OLB K’Lavon Chaisson LSU
Chaisson should boost the pass rush that was severely lacking in 2019.
Dallas S Grant Delpit LSU
Versatile safety fills a need for the Cowboys backfield. Delpit has the making of a very good NFL defensive back who can affect the passing game in coverage and rushing the passer. A leader on the field who seems to be in the right position most of the time.
Miami QB Tua Taglovailoa Alabama
Miami may have to trade up to get Tua. They have plenty of picks to do that. It’s a perfect situation to sit behind Fitzpatrick for a year, learning and healing. The roster is on the mend and the team seems headed in the right direction.
Las Vegas LB Kenneth Murray Oklahoma
The Raiders defense was a mess and adding Murray would be a perfect fit. He’s great at blowing up the run. He see’s the line open up holes like a runningback and makes the stop. He’s not a liability against the pass either.
Jacksonville OT Austin Jackson USC
The Jags offensive line was a mess in 2019. Adding Jackson should give them a sarter right away and help move the offense better this season.
. Philadelphia WR Denzel Mims Baylor
Alshon Jeffery and Desean Jackson haven’t proven to be season long reliable weapons. Mims is a big speedy target who would be a great upgrade for the Eagles offense.
Minnesota DE AJ Espensa Iowa
Espensa fills a need and can play multiple positions on the line. He’ll be ready to go in running and passing situations right out of the gate.
New England DE Yetur Gross-Matos Penn State
I think the Patriots will trade down if they can acquire more picks. If not they’ll grab the highest player on their draft board. Gross-Matos fits the build the Patriots like at 6’5” 275lbs with speed to match. Linebacker needs to be addressed. Kenneth Murray and Patrick Queen could be options. Gross-Matos needs to get stronger to be effective against the run.
New Orleans QB Jordan Love Utah State
The Saints pick up the future at quarterback. Love has a lot of good attributes but still has a lot to work on. Sitting and learning behind Brees is the perfect situation.
Minnesota CB Kristian Fulton LSU
Minnesota needs to add cornerback depth. Fulton should be able to get into the mix early and win a starting job.
Miami S Xavier McKinney Alabama
Miami was terrible against the passing game and McKinney should help in coverage this season.
Seattle CB AJ Tirrell Clemson
Great size and speed combo. The Seahawks are bad against the pass last year
Baltimore LB Patrick Queen LSU
Smaller Speedy linebacker who’s excellent in pass coverage.
Tennessee CB Travon Diggs Alabama
Big physical corner who was used in many different ways at Alabama
Green Bay WR Justin Jefferson LSU
Receiver was a mess for Green Bay last season. They need to find somebody to take the heat off Adams. Jefferson should be able to fit right into the slot position and become an asset early.
San Francisco RB JK Dobbins Ohio State
After using four backs at different times of the season. The 49ers find themselves able to use a luxury pick on a three down back.
Kansas City DeAndre Swift
Quick cutting decisive runner. Helps in the passing game and will give the Chiefs offense another dangerous weapon.
